Butch Trucks Gone? Say it Aint So!

Allman Brothers Pine Knob

I was checking  Twitter yesterday (1/25/17) and it popped up?  Butch Trucks dead at 69.  What?  No way.  I couldn’t believe it.  I was overwhelmed with sadness and memories.  The Allman Brother’s remain in my top 10 and I found it ironic that Butch passed at the same age as the Allman Brothers Band was born…’69.  I spoke with Butch back in March of 2010 regarding the band’s annual concerts at the Beacon Theatre in NY.  That tradition sadly ended in 2014.  There are several iconic drummers in rock and roll, but few the likes of Butch Trucks.  Among my other favorites include John Bonham, Mitch Mitchell, Neil Peart, Ginger Baker, Clyde Stubblefield, Keith Moon, Alex Van Halen and Detroit’s own Johnny Bee.  I’m not sure what happens to the Allman Brothers now.  They’ve lost Duane Allman, Barry Oakley and now Butch Trucks.  All founding members.  If the Allman’s do go back out there I’ll promise you this.  I will close my eyes, smile and say “Butch I miss you “Brother,” but you never missed a beat.”  God speed!
