Meet “Under The Radar Michigan” Creators Tom Daldin and Jim Edelman

Simply hit the ‘Start Button’ below the photo.

On Tuesday, February 13th, I sat down with Tom Daldin and Jim Edelman the creators of “Under the Radio Michigan.”   We all worked together back in the 80’s at WRIF 101 FM.  We had an incredible time back in the good ol’ days.  We were just making great radio and having a ball!  We spend about 10 minutes reminiscing about The Home of Rock & Roll, and boy did we have some laughs.  We then move into our discussion about Under the Radar Michigan

Funny how things turn out.  Especially for Tom and Jim.  In 2012 they had a meeting at WTVS Detroit Public TV and…well I’ll let them tell you the rest of a truly great story.  I hope you enjoy it as much as I did doing the podcast.  Enjoy

What is New Wave or Punk Music? Circa 1980

Andy Summers-Ken Calvert-Stewart Copeland 1981

I think I’ve shared the fact that I have come upon a treasure trove of old recordings. Some are too damaged to restore, and I can’t tell you how sad that makes me. I’ve become obsessed with downloading and restoring old cassettes and DATs. I came across this blast from the past. In 1980 I was asked by my Program Director to do a special on “New Wave” or as most of us called it “Punk Rock.” Luckily, this cassette containing my one-hour special from 1980 was decent enough to share. Imagine that there was a time when the Police were considered “New Wave.” Have a listen and give me your thoughts. Enjoy! ©Ken Calvert (Follow me on twitter @calvertwcsx)

“There’s a New Kid In Town. Everybody’s Talking”

The Eagles were in Detroit Friday night at the new Little Caesars Arena.  Based on every report and review it was “spectacular.” I came across an interview I did with Don Henley back in 2004. Have a listen. Enjoy!
